Substance Abuse Treatment:
Tailored for The Teen Brain

Mental Health & Substance Abuse Evaluation

We understand that teenage substance abuse is often driven by underlying mental health problems and trauma. When your teen first arrives for treatment, they will receive a comprehensive substance abuse evaluation and mental health assessment to build a personalized treatment plan around their unique needs.

Family-Focused Care

Lotus Behavioral Health recognizes the importance of family in the recovery journey for teens. We encourage parents to stay involved in their teen's treatment process for an increased success rate. Through therapies, activities, and skill-building workshops, we focus on equipping teens with the tools to repair damaged relationships, manage conflict, and form connections.

Evidence-based Therapies

During your youth’s stay in residential treatment, they will participate in intense individual and group therapies such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and medication management. Our licensed therapists will help teens modify negative thinking patterns that drive substance abuse, then set treatment goals, and develop positive coping strategies.

Relapse Prevention

Throughout our program, we focus on relapse prevention planning by helping teens build a strong support system for them after they leave treatment and transition back to their community. This may include involving family or friends in the recovery process, ensuring teens meet academic requirements during their stay, and connecting them to a peer recovery network.

Academic Program

Lotus Behavioral Health holds both treatment and academics as equally important. We understand many teens who enter treatment fall behind in school, creating extra challenges when they transition back to their community. We partner with local schools to optimize success for teens in our Residential and PHP programs. Teens in our program spend time in the classroom each day while continuing to make progress in their recovery.

Residential Treatment For Teens:

Lotus Behavioral Health features residential treatment for teens that renews and restores wholeness to individuals and their families impacted by substance use and mental health disorders. Our residential drug treatment program is available for male and female adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17. Based on treatment recommendations, our residential treatment for teens programs range from 30 to 90 days. The minimum length of residential treatment depends on the type and extent of the adolescent’s challenges and their willingness to make a change. According to the National Institutes of Health, residential treatment for teens requires an adequate period of time to generate lasting change.

In our residential program, adolescents receive customized treatment that is developed and delivered by expert clinical therapists. We also provide individualized educational services to keep teens on track with their school responsibilities. Our excellent academic program is designed to positively impact their confidence, engagement, and sense of accomplishment—supporting their process of healing and recovery. This integrative residential treatment curriculum consists of a minimum of 24 hours of clinical and activity therapy each week. Clients also attend our virtual classroom daily where they will be able to keep up with their academics or vocational goals. Our comprehensive residential program reestablishes healthy adolescent behavior while setting the stage for a successful transition back into families, homes, schools, and communities.

During residential treatment, active family participation is essential for a good outcome and can greatly benefit even the most severely addicted individuals. The family component aims to educate those closest to the youth about chemical dependency and the practical skills needed to support adolescents in their vision of a better life.

The Lotus Residential Program Offers the following Services:

  • Group therapy sessions (7 days a week).
  • Individual and family therapy sessions (at least once a week).
  • Florida Virtual School for all clients to maintain current status with credits or catch up with the assistance of a teacher in the classroom. Credits from Florida Virtual School are accepted at all Florida schools. This helps reduce possible stigma when teens return to school.
  • Community outings and volunteer opportunities.
  • Evening Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings.

Our residential treatment for teens components include (subject to change depending on the needs of the resident):

  • Specialized therapy groups include trauma and chemical dependency.
  • On-site NA and AA groups (closed meetings).
  • Recreation Therapy sessions.
  • Parenting classes for teens who have children of their own.
  • Virtual classroom use.
  • Weekly academic progress reports.
  • Physical fitness center.

Begin a new journey with Lotus Behavioral Health and see how our levels of care can help your teen blossom.
