What We Treat

Preventing Relapse
With Outpatient Therapy

Outpatient therapy serves as an essential part of long-term recovery after teens exit an inpatient program. Addiction is often a life-long battle, and receiving ongoing outpatient therapy can help teens continue implementing the skills they learned in residential treatment. They will also focus on addressing mental health challenges that drive their substance abuse.

During outpatient therapy, teens will have a flexible approach to treatment, meeting one to two times a week. They will participate in evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR and continue with their medication appointments. Outpatient therapy focuses on helping teens build positive coping strategies, and crisis plans to reduce the risk of relapse.

Targeting The Root of Teenage Substance Abuse

As parents, watching your teen struggle with substance abuse can be extremely distressing. The developing brain is vulnerable to the long-term consequences of abusing drugs or alcohol in adolescence. We understand the complex nature of substance abuse in teens with a focus on treating underlying mental health problems and trauma that drive addiction.

Our evidence-based therapies and individualized programs help teens break negative thought patterns, set treatment goals, and develop positive coping skills. We offer several levels of care to help teens throughout the treatment journey and outpatient services to ensure their long-term recovery

Benefits of Lotus
Outpatient Treatment

Mental Health & Substance Abuse Evaluation

We understand that teenage addiction is often driven by underlying mental health problems and trauma. When your teen first arrives for treatment, they will be given a comprehensive substance abuse evaluation and mental health assessment to identify what treatment is most appropriate for their needs.

Family-Focused Care

Lotus Behavioral Health recognizes the importance of family in the recovery journey for teens. We encourage parents to stay involved in their teen's treatment process for an increased success rate. We offer outpatient family therapy to resolve conflict, form better connections, and create a recovery-supportive environment for your teen.

Intense Therapies

We offer individual therapies such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR, as well as group and family therapy on an outpatient basis. Our licensed therapists will help teens break negative thinking patterns that drive their substance abuse, set treatment goals, and develop positive coping strategies.

Flexible Approach to Treatment

Outpatient services offer teens a flexible approach to treatment, meeting one to two times a week. Teens have access to almost all of the same therapies and treatments they do in a more intense program like PHP or IOP. Our outpatient program is ideal for teens who have completed a higher level of care, and need ongoing recovery support.

Medication Management

During substance abuse treatment, your teen will meet weekly with our board-certified psychiatrist to address underlying mental health challenges through medication management. When they first enter our treatment program, we look at the medication they are already on—adjusting prescriptions and dosages as needed. Medication combined with therapy can significantly improve treatment outcomes.

Academic Program

Lotus Behavioral Health holds both treatment and academics as equally important. We understand many teens who enter treatment fall behind in school, creating extra challenges when they transition back to their community. Teens in our program spend time in the classroom each day while continuing to make progress in their recovery.

The Lotus Outpatient Program treats adolescents who are experiencing substance abuse and mental health issues, through a comprehensive, evidence-based program. Treatment is tailored for each client and incorporates a strong family therapy component.

What Else to Expect in the Outpatient Program

Clients continue to explore their passions, solidify their foundations, and build upon the growth they achieved, while participating in many of the same activities that supported them during their time at Lotus Behavioral Health or another residential facility.

Data shows that teen substance use, depression, trauma, and anxiety rates are at all-time highs, while teens’ social interactions have become more limited. The Coronavirus Pandemic has amplified the needs of adolescents and their families to address substance use and mental health issues that have become increasingly common during these challenging times. Virtual schooling only accentuates these issues. As a result, a growing number of teens need compassionate, outcomes-driven care specialized for this critical stage of life.

The Difference Between a Day Night (PHP) Program, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and Outpatient Program; Choosing the right program for yourself or a loved one can be a daunting task, and it’s not a decision you should have to make on your own. Our dedicated staff is available 24/7 to confidentially answer your questions and help you decide on the best approach.
